Guild Wars 3 Warrior
Sword, shield, fall-velocity slams, and a Rampage elite charged in combat.
The Guild Wars 3 Warrior is the profession the public has actually seen fight. In the Gamescom 2026 demo, ArenaNet put a sword-and-shield Warrior on the stick and used that kit to explain momentum, vertical combat, and party play in the same session. This page is a reading of that footage and the Q&A around it, not a live ranking. The game is unreleased. The first beta is Fall 2027. Treat every number you see on social media as unofficial.
If you only remember one sentence: this Warrior is a grounded slam class. Height is a resource you spend on the way down. The Ranger is being designed to stay up. Read both pages before you decide they are both melee with different weapons.
What the Gamescom Warrior actually did
The demo Warrior carried a sword and a shield. Basic swings dealt ordinary hits. Specific skills knocked enemies down or back and interrupted attacks. After a sprint, a shield bash could pin a foe against a wall. A kick could throw an enemy off a cliff, where fall damage — or a long enough drop — finished the job. That is the kit talking through the world: ledges are weapons, walls are launch rails, and the floor is where the damage lands.
Aerial slams are the signature. Damage and radius scale with fall velocity. Run up a wall, leave the surface, and bomb into a pack, and the hit grows because you brought speed with you, not because a tooltip listed a bigger coefficient. Colin Johanson described it in those terms during the session: the farther and faster the fall, the harder and wider the slam. A short hop is a poke. A committed drop is an area weapon. Positioning is the rotation.
The shield is not only a block. It is also a springboard. Allies can use it to launch themselves, and the Necromancer in the same demo vaulted off that shield to strike enemies below. Blocking still matters — threat is returning, and a Warrior can hold a line — but the interesting design is the dual use. You protect, and you become terrain for a partner. A solo Warrior still functions. A Warrior standing next to a scythe player opens a combo the solo kit does not have.
Elemental weapon buffs showed up in a spider nest. Webs slowed both the Warrior and the Necromancer until a fire buff on the weapon burned the silk. That is not a full crafting guide. It is a statement that the right tool for the room can be a buff you brought, not a dedicated profession button. Harder content is being described as a build-coordination problem in the Guild Wars 1 sense: you prepare for the enemy. See Combat Roles for how that sits next to threat, and combat systems for the movement layer under the slam.
Rampage, loadouts, and the grounded identity
The Elite shown was Rampage. It is charged by fighting, not sat on a cooldown you watch like a kettle. On spend it deals damage, then grants faster attacks, stronger pushes, and higher jumps. The Elite is not a separate superhero mode glued to a Warrior; it is the same momentum fantasy with the governor taken off. Higher jumps feed better slams. Stronger pushes feed more cliff kills. Faster attacks keep you in the fight that is charging the next Rampage.
Loadouts, including that Elite, are prepared in advance. Contextual skills appear in windows. An aerial bomb is available when you are in the air, not as a ground slot you tap whenever a guide says so. That is why a tank-leaning Warrior and a slam-leaning Warrior will feel like different classes even if they share a name. ArenaNet has said a Warrior focused on being a solid wall may use momentum less than one who lives on jumps. Not every Warrior is a tank. The shield lets you tank. The slam lets you be the person who ends a pack. You pick the loadout before the pull.
Compare that with the other two confirmed kits. Necromancer converts horizontal momentum into a scythe slash that travels farther and steals life, then uses Necrotic Traversal to stay in the cut. Ranger is the airborne opposite: suspended attacks, slow-fall bow volleys, an ice vortex allies can ride so a Warrior can jump in for an icy slam. If you like bombing the floor, you are in the right primer. If you like hanging in the sky, leave this page for Ranger. If you like a scythe line and a possible minion wall, use Necromancer. The Classes Hub exists so you do not have to pretend those three verbs are a ranked list.
World context still matters for how a Warrior will feel on day one of a test. Ancient Orr is a seamless frontier with camps as safe areas and Arah as the major city. Large combat is being described around twenty players, which is enough for slam targeting to matter and small enough that one person kicking a champion off a ridge is a story, not a raid wipe meme. Vaelwardens are the guild fantasy wrapping the kit: you are not a chosen one, you are an order on the back foot, and a Warrior who can hold a gate or collapse a cliff is the kind of specialist that order actually needs.
Watch future footage for three tells. First, whether sword and shield remain the teaching weapons or whether other Warrior weapons appear. Second, whether Rampage stays a combat-charged Elite or becomes one option among several. Third, whether the springboard shield stays a Warrior signature or becomes a wider combo language. Until those answers exist in a public beta, do not download a rotation. Practice the verb: get high, come down harder than you left, and leave a platform your allies can use. That is the Gamescom Warrior, and it is the only Warrior this wiki will treat as confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Guild Wars 3 players waiting on the Fall 2027 beta.
Is every Guild Wars 3 Warrior a tank?
No. The shield can hold a line, but the demo identity is a grounded slam fighter. Roles are flexible; see Combat Roles.
How do aerial slams scale?
Damage and radius scale with fall velocity. Wall-runs and committed drops hit harder and wider than short hops. Movement notes sit in combat.
What is Rampage?
The Elite shown in the Gamescom demo. It charges through combat, not a simple cooldown, then grants faster attacks, stronger pushes, and higher jumps.
How does the Warrior combo with other professions?
The shield blocks and acts as a springboard. A Necromancer vaulted it in the demo. A Ranger ice vortex can set up an icy slam.
When can I play Warrior?
The game is unreleased. First beta is Fall 2027 on PC and PlayStation 5. Wishlist and dates: wishlist and beta tracker.
