Guild Wars 3 PC and PlayStation 5
Steam, ArenaNet's client, and PS5 join together from day one.
Guild Wars 3 is the first Guild Wars game built for a home console as well as PC. The upcoming MMORPG is planned for Windows through Steam and ArenaNet’s own client, plus PlayStation 5. There is no announced Xbox version. The full launch date is TBA. The first beta is Fall 2027. If you are choosing hardware now, you are choosing a storefront and a controller, not picking a server that already exists.
Official setting copy is the cross-play sentence you should remember: players on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the standalone client will be able to join those playing on ArenaNet accounts from the beginning. That is the largest day-one platform mix in the franchise. This page unpacks storefronts, pads, DualSense’s USB-only Steam note, and the published PC minimum. Pair it with Getting Started, the wishlist checklist, and system requirements.
Steam, the ArenaNet client, and PlayStation 5
PC has two doors. Steam app 4743930 is the wishlist page most people will use. ArenaNet’s standalone client is the other, the same idea as previous Guild Wars launchers, sold from guildwars3.com. Official language treats those PC paths as one population with PlayStation 5, not as split games. You should still wishlist Steam if you own a PC, because Steam is where most PC news, screenshots, and spec updates will land.
PlayStation 5 is a first for the series. Follow the PlayStation Store concept page. A physical collector’s edition is confirmed for launch; price and contents are not public. Do not expect a SKU you can order today. Console UI work is already influencing the PC HUD: the Gamescom interface was a preview placeholder, and the stated goal is a cleaner, more customizable layout that reads on a television. How to Play covers that HUD caveat.
Buy-to-play applies on every store. No subscription, no premium battle pass, no pay-to-win. Cosmetics and convenience can exist. That is a franchise rule, not a Steam-only note. See philosophy. Cross-save and account linking details beyond “join together from day one” are not published. Do not assume a PlayStation character is already tied to a Steam wallet. Do not assume Guild Wars 2 accounts log you into Guild Wars 3; Hall of Monuments 2.0 is a reward bridge built on the Guild Wars 2 side, explained in vs Guild Wars 2.
No other consoles are on the list. If you only own Xbox, this game is not announced for you. Cloud streaming, Steam Deck verification, and PlayStation Portal support are unpublished. Steam currently lists Steam Deck compatibility as unknown.
Controller, mouse and keyboard, DualSense
Combat is designed from the outset to feel right on a pad and on mouse and keyboard. The Gamescom demo was captured on a controller: face buttons for a small skill cluster, shoulders for contextual actions, a centered health bar, endurance pips for stamina. Many skills are contextual based on whether you are sprinting, airborne, or blocking, which is how ArenaNet hopes to keep build depth without a twelve-key bar. Mouse and keyboard remains first class; PC players are not being asked to emulate a DualSense.
Steam lists Xbox controllers and DualSense, with DualSense on PC marked USB only. If you want adaptive triggers or haptic features on Windows, plan on a cable. Bluetooth DualSense on PC is not what that store line describes. On PlayStation 5, the DualSense is the native pad and has no such USB footnote. We do not have a published list of which combat events map to adaptive triggers. Treat haptics as a maybe, not a combat stat.
Action-camera play is the default fantasy: a reticle, no tab-target list in the demo, aiming and movement as part of damage. If you hate controlling a camera with a right stick, mouse and keyboard on PC is the obvious pick. If you play on a couch, the whole movement system (wall-run, glide, mantle) was shown on a pad on purpose. Momentum combat is the mechanical page; this page is only the hardware that lets you do it.
PC specs, Unreal Engine 5, and beta hardware
Engine: Unreal Engine 5. Steam minimum:
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600
- RAM: 16 GB
- GPU: GeForce RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5700 / Intel Arc A580
- Storage: 65 GB available space
That is a floor for a game that is not out. Unreal Engine 5 titles often want more RAM and a stronger GPU once you leave minimum presets, ray tracing, or crowded cities. Cities are allowed to show more players than combat shards (~20 in a large fight), so a hub in Arah may be heavier than a four-player temple. There is no official recommended spec table beyond the minimum block on Steam. Use the system requirements page as the living copy of that table.
If your PC is under the line, PlayStation 5 is the supported alternative, not a cracked laptop and hope. The Fall 2027 Beta will be the first real hardware test for outsiders. Wave composition (PC only, PS5 only, or mixed) is unpublished. Do not buy a new GPU on a rumor that the beta is 4K unlocked. Check the beta tracker when invites exist.
Official community homes are the same on every platform: Discord, @PlayGuildWars3, r/guildwars3, plus the wiki links page. Storefront choice does not change the setting. You still join the Vaelwardens in ancient Orr with a Seeker.
